During the installation of your Solar Gard window film, the mounting solution used may necessitate a dry-out period. This period can vary based on weather conditions, with colder or non-sunny weather prolonging it, while warm weather and direct sunlight expediting it. It’s normal to notice small water beads and a slightly cloudy appearance during this time. If the drying process seems slow, don’t worry; the film will eventually dry out.
IMPORTANT: Do not clean the film for 30 days following installation.
To ensure the longevity of your window film, adhere to these care and maintenance guidelines:
1. Use clean, soft materials when washing and drying your window film surfaces.
2. A mixture of 1/2 ounce of liquid dish soap per quart of fresh water makes an effective cleaning solution for window film.
3. Opt for a soft cloth or a clean synthetic sponge for washing, followed by another soft cloth or a soft rubber squeegee for drying.
4. Avoid using bristle brushes, abrasive scrubbing sponges, or any cleaning materials that may contain dirt particles to prevent scratching the film.
5. Refrain from using the same cleaning materials for both interior and exterior windows to prevent cross-contamination.
6. Certain brands of paper towels can cause fine scratches on the film, even with scratch-resistant coatings. Over time, these scratches can diminish the film’s appearance.
